Virtual Adult Autism & ADHD Diagnostic Assessment
An interview- and measure-based diagnostic assessment for adults evaluating whether autism, ADHD, or both account for long-standing patterns in cognition, social functioning, and daily life. Conducted entirely by secure telehealth throughout California, with a diagnosis where warranted and a brief written summary with recommendations. $1,200, credited in full toward an in-person evaluation should you go on to one.
Late-Identified Autism and ADHD in Adults
Many adults reach their thirties, forties, or later with a working theory about themselves and no formal answer. The pattern is familiar: you managed school by working harder than anyone realized, you have always found social situations effortful in ways other people do not describe, or you have been treated for anxiety and depression for years without anyone asking what was driving them.
This assessment is designed for that question. It is appropriate if you are an adult seeking clarity about whether autism, ADHD, or both account for a long-standing pattern — whether you want a formal diagnosis, documentation for workplace accommodations, or simply an accurate framework for understanding your own history.
What the Assessment Involves
- Developmental history. A structured account of early development, school history, and the arc of your functioning over time — the part most often skipped in adult evaluations, and the part that matters most for a valid diagnosis.
- Clinical interview. Direct discussion of current functioning across work, relationships, sensory experience, and daily life.
- Standardized rating scales. Validated measures completed as part of the assessment, including adaptive functioning measures such as the ABAS-3.
- Structured diagnostic instruments. Depending on the referral question, this commonly draws on the ADI-R and the interview portion of the ADOS-2.
- Clinical observation across the course of the assessment.
- Review of records. Prior evaluations, school records, and relevant medical or mental health documentation.
- Systematic review against DSM-5-TR criteria for autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.
Virtual or In-Person
This telehealth assessment is one option. It is interview- and measure-based: a developmental history, clinical interview, validated rating scales, review of records, and review against DSM-5-TR criteria, yielding a diagnosis where the findings warrant one, together with a brief written summary and recommendations.
For a more in-depth autism or ADHD assessment, an in-person evaluation is recommended. In-person evaluations are available at the Hermosa Beach office for all ages, produce a comprehensive, detailed report, and may include cognitive and achievement testing where indicated: ADHD evaluation from $1,800, autism evaluation from $2,800, or a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation from $3,900. The $1,200 fee credits in full toward any of these.
Feedback and Written Summary
You receive verbal feedback at the end of the assessment — a direct conversation about what the findings show, stated plainly rather than left for you to decode from a report. This is followed by a written summary documenting the assessment, the diagnostic conclusions, and specific recommendations.
Where a diagnosis is supported, the summary says so and explains the basis. Where it is not, it says that too, and addresses what else may account for the pattern you came in with. An honest negative finding is a real result, not a failed appointment.
